In Room 2 we are using the "Casey the Caterpillar" programme for handwriting. We learn a set of shapes, such as "tall stick" or "short stick" or "tunnel" and then use these shapes to form the letters. This helps the children to develop the correct letter formation. For a description of the shapes and the letters see the document below.

Learning the letters
This is an excellent video to learn the letter names and the sounds. We sing it every day!
Learning about Fiji
Room 2 has been learning about Fiji. Mrs Singh told us about life in Fiji and we broke open a coconut to see what was inside. Then we had a taste of the coconut flesh.

Buddy reading with Room 13
Fractions
We have started to look at fractions in Room 2. we know they are magic numbers made up of two numbers. We know the bottom number tells us the number of pieces it has been cut into and the top number tells us how many pieces we have.
| We started dividing paper chocolate bars. Then if we got the question right we got a little piece of real chocolate. |
| Then we made pizzas and divided them into fractions. Here Kaleb and Gowri show us their pizzas. |
